Here’s to a beer bellyful of profits!

IIPM BEST MBA INSTITUTE
Beer’s brewing profits, and how! Thanks to strong sales growth in the Americas and Eastern Europe, Dutch brewer Heineken (the world’s fourth-largest brewer in terms of sales) has reported a 14% rise in its operating profits for the first-half of the year. The company announced that operating profits stood at euros 726 million – a figure that has hands down beaten the median forecast of euros 711 million in a media poll of nine analysts. What’s more, revenues were pegged at euros 5.74 billion, again well above the forecast of euros 5.68 billion (thanks to the fact that the Heineken brand boosted its share in the global premium segment, and the sales of its new light beer, Heineken Premium Light, has exceeded expectations). The beer company is now targeting markets like Russia and the South East Asian region through mergers and acquisitions, cost cutting measures and launching new products, such as low-carb beer.

On asking about TKM’s strategic plans, Vikram divulges, “The only solution in India to increase your market share is to add a plant. A product and a plant.” However, he refused to reveal any further details on the product that is due for launch.

IIPM PUBLICATION
As a child he built walkie-talkies, intercoms and bid his time debating mathematical concepts. The young genius is the inventor of Apple. Woz – as he was nicknamed – was very bright, even school bored his mind. He fl unked out of Colorado University, later dropped out of California University as well and joined Hewlett Packard. There he met John Draper to market & build illegal “blue boxes” that helped people make telephone calls free of cost! Summer intern at HP, Steve Jobs, helped peddle the “blue box” business, but as it lost steam, Woz turned to build Apple I. Jobs foresaw its potential & persuaded Woz to team up & market it. The Apple logo showed a missing bite, denoting the ‘byte’ in computing language. Apple II followed and the company was raking in millions. But soon after IBM released their first PC, Apple II Plus & Apple III ran into problems; but a major revamp let the company come back on track. In February 1981, Woz’s private airplane crashed & resulted in short term memory loss.
