Corporate bigwigs are waking up to the significance of measures to ensure that their CSR actually has environmental relevance. PepsiCo recently announced that it will purchase enough ‘Green-e certified’ renewable energy certificates (RECs). IBM received an award from the WWF and the Center for Energy & Climate Solutions in 2005 for being the first company to meet its program commitment (it actually exceeded the goal of achieving an average annual CO2 by 1.7% since 1998). AMD, Intel & Xerox (amongst many others) are also working together to develop guidelines and monitoring procedures to address various global socio-environmental issues.
